How to Read Blue

Blue an Illustrated Novel is an experiment, a sketchbook and a complete work all in one. I will undoubtedly spend some time sifting through the artwork and text, attempting to pull it all together into a cohesive presentation for print only to find that this is the way it is meant to be. However, I have already been asked by a couple of people to make this into something they can hold in their hands and really get the feel of. When I held up my laptop in response I immediately got the impression that that wasn't going to be okay. I would, in fact, have to assemble the whole book into a printable manuscript.

I will do that when I finish this.

So what is this?

It is the scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid where Redford and Newman run headlong out of the bank, guns blazing, knowing full well that they have absolutely no chance of survival. Okay, so it isn't that bad, but it is an unloading. The structure, if you can call it that is integrated fully with the plot. The story begins with the birth of Blue, moves into the graphic novel Leer and becomes both. That bit gets clearer after you read it.

So the best way to read it is to go to the very first post which is at the very end of the list, the oldest thing in the history, and start there. The only drawback to this is that you have to read through it then look higher up the tree to read the next one and so on. Ultimately you will end up at the most recent post and then you will be up to date. If you jump on board while I'm still writing Blue, you will get a daily read. I haven't missed a day yet, technically because even if I go away, I drop a few extra in advance of leaving and add a few more upon return in order to make up for any missed days. And that only happened twice in 114 days so far.

So here's the first post, get started and I'll see you at the end!
